SHOT 2017 – Battle Arms Development

BattleArmsDevelopment

Battle Arms Development had a lot to announce for 2017.

Aside from their typical BADass painted weapons, like this Iron Man AR-15…
SHOT Show 2017 - Battle Arms 003-1000

…they also had the “300 PDW” in .300 BLK that was nicknamed “Woody”.

SHOT Show 2017 - Battle Arms 300 PDW with wood furniture 001-1000

This PDW features a real wood handguard attachment and pistol grip and a faux wood cheekweld.

BAD has developed a currently unnamed 10″ handguard weighing in at 7.3 oz with a $TBD MSRP.

SHOT Show 2017 - Battle Arms Handguard 001-1000

BAD has also partnered up with TriggerTech to introduce the B.A.D. edition trigger.

SHOT Show 2017 - Battle Arms TriggerTech Trigger 001-1000

This fully adjustable trigger (2.5-5#) comes in either a straight/flat or curved variant.  The adjustment can be made while the trigger is installed by using an allen wrench on the rear of the top of the trigger housing.

SHOT Show 2017 - Battle Arms TriggerTech Trigger 002-1000

BAD also introduced an Ultra Compact 4.75″ Pistol Buffer Tube (sorry no photo available).  The Tube uses the same buffer as the BAD Vert Stock.  The MSRP for the tube and buffer is $225.

BAD is also working on some California Compliant gear.  They are working on a variant of their lightweight billet lower receiver with a integrated magazine release plunger.

SHOT Show 2017 - Battle Arms CA Compliant 002-1000
Note the plunger on the top of the lower receiver (silver dot).

When depressed (i.e. the upper receiver firmly seated against the lower), the plunger will not allow the magazine release button to be depressed.  BAD has developed a rear take-down pin that when turned in one direction and pulled out, will allow the upper receiver to crack open slightly to allow for the magazine release button to be depressed while disabling the firearm.

SHOT Show 2017 - Battle Arms CA Compliant 003-1000

The rear take-down pin can also be turned the other direction and pulled out to allow the upper receiver to open fully.  This is all still in the process of being designed and approved for legal compliance.

SHOT 2017 – Elite Tactical Systems Group

ets-group

Elite Tactical Systems (ETS) Group has made some introductions of new magazines at the 2017 SHOT Show that will be sure to catch a little bit of attention.

SHOT Show 2017 - ETS Group MP5 Magazines -1000

First, ETS announced a clear polymer version of MP5 magazines in 30, 20 and 10 round capacity.

SHOT Show 2017 - ETS Group Glock G42 and G43 Magazines-1000

Secondly, ETS also announced a clear polymer version of both Glock Model G42 and G43 magazines in 6, 9 and 12 round capacities.  The 9-round model provides a natural and comfortable place for the “pinky” finger to rest due to the smaller nature of these handguns.

SHOT Show 2017 - ETS Group Compression Adaptable Magazine Loader (CAML)-1000

Lastly, ETS has developed the CAML.  CAML being an acronym, stands for “Compression Adaptable Magazine Loader”.  As pictured above, the small “follower” portion on the right side is slid off of the rail system.  The user takes the CAML and slides the rail portion along the head side of ammunition casing as it is seated inside of the ammunition tray in rows.  The user then lifts those rounds out of the tray and reattaches the “follower” on top of the ammunition and in “stripper clip” style, presses the ammunition into the magazine.  The CAML is currently only being produced for 9mm pistol magazines.  The beauty of the CAML is that it is said to work with all 9mm magazines, regardless if it is single or double-stack.  It is currently in the production phase and you should see it around mid-to-late-March 2017.

The pricing on all of their new magazines and the CAML have yet to be determined.

SHOT 2017 Range Day – Mag Pump

Mag Pump 003-1000

Every once and awhile I will come across a product that stops me in my tracks and has me put it in reverse.  Yesterday at the SHOT Industry Day at the Range, the Mag Pump did just that.  Though I had just casually passed by their booth which was tucked away in the corner in “tent village”, it was not until I had actually seen it being used to load magazines at the Aero Precision live fire lane that it had caught my attention.

Mag Pump 001-1000

The Mag Pump is a hopper-fed, loose ammo loader for .223 Rem, 5.56 NATO and .300 BLK and is compatible with all MIL-SPEC AR-15 Magazines and is available in both polymer or machined aluminum.

So, down to the nuts and bolts.  The Mag Pump is capable of being table mounted via two pre-drilled holes on the base which will provide it greater stability, though it is not required.  Basic operation consists of the user placing a MIL-SPEC AR15 magazine, tip down, into the front of the Mag Pump and dumping a handful of ammo in the hopper.  Though all of the rounds will need to be oriented horizontally in the hopper, it does not matter which direction the bullet tip or primer is facing.  Once the user has loaded up to 90 rounds into the hopper, all that is required is a pumping motion on the side lever, which a child could do with ease.  Another nice feature, no counting.  Once the magazine has reached its capacity, the Mag Pump recognizes through a sensor that the tension on the spring has reached the capacity and it will no longer allow rounds to be inserted.

Mag Pump 002-1000

The Mag Pump MSRP’s for $199 for the polymer version (MP-AR15) and $399 for the machined aluminum (MP-AR15 ELITE).  If you are an occasional shooter that is only loading a magazine or two once in a while, this product may not be for you.  If you are a higher volume shooter, or someone who teaches or attends classes where down time between shooting for loading magazines can be a hinderance, this is definitely something you need to take a closer look at.

There are also versions coming soon for the AK47 as well as Glock 9mm magazines.

Mag Pump does not have their own booth at the SHOT Show, however, they will have some on display in booth 6112 this week.  I will attempt to get a video of it in action.

For more information, please visit magpump.com or email them directly at orders@magpump.com.
