For 2014, Burris introduced the new AR-1X Prism Sight for fast CQB shooting in competition or tactical environments. Featuring a highly visible reticle suitable for CQB operations, it also provides trajectory compensation out to 600 yards. The illuminated reticle is available in red, green, or black. The black reticle is functional with or without battery power. The AR-1X runs on a single AA battery with a 1,000 hour runtime and is night vision compatible. The AR-1X retail price is to be determined.
Crye Precision, known for their camo patterns and tactical kit has entered the firearms market for 2014. Crye has developed the Six12 bull-pup design shotgun. This double-action, striker-fire shotgun holds 6 rounds of 12 gauge ammunition in a removable rotating cartridge. The Six12 will also become available as an add-on option for an AR-style rifle and can be used as a breaching option with the 12.5” shotgun barrel with a 10.5” rifle barrel for clearance. Military and Law Enforcement can expect the Six12 to be available in the winter of 2014 with the civilian market to follow.
New for 2014, Diamondhead-USA has announced their Diamondhead “T-Brake” Muzzle Brake. The Diamondhead-USA “T-Brake”, which is triangular in shape, was designed specifically to create a greater surface area on the bottom of the brake for the gas to apply downward pressure. This premium-grade muzzle brake is machined out of 4140 steel and will be available in February 2014.
New for 2014, Safariland has released the GLS (Grip Locking System) Holster. The GLS is held closer to the body than the ALS system holsters due to the release mechanism being positioned for the use of the middle finger in lieu of the thumb. The GLS features a suede lining and is available for Glock in 9mm/.40, Smith & Wesson M&P compact and Shield, Springfield Armory XDS, and are working on additional models.
New for 2014 from EOTech is their Laser Battery Cap and X320 Handheld Thermal Imager.
The Laser Battery Cap is available as a full sight package or as a replacement battery cap for an existing 512 or 552 holographic sights. The 512LBC is red laser only and retails for $285.00 alone or $729.00 for a complete sighting system. The 552LBC incorporates both red laser and IR and retails for $429 alone or $979 as a complete sighting system.
The X320 Handheld Thermal Imager is a compact package that allows the adjustment of the seen image by the turn of a dial and is reasonably priced for Law Enforcement. The X320 retails for $3499.00.
New from Danner for 2014 is their Tachyon GTX boot line. The Tachyon GTX features a GORE-TEX lining, a full grain leather polishable toe, pentagon lug pattern sole with a fully rubberized outsole, a fully waterproof synthetic ultralight upper, speed lacing system, and an EVA mid-sole. Each boot weighs in at 17 oz (for a size 10). The Tachyon retails for $150.00.
New for Trijicon in 2014 is their Variable Combat Optical Gunsight, or VCOG, which has a 1-6x range and continues the tradition of rugged capability expected from Trijicon. The VCOG has seven different FFP reticle choices, functions on a single AA battery for a continuous 700 hours of operation, and is rail mounted.
The VCOG offers 6 brightness settings with off settings between each brightness setting. The first VCOG model to be introduced will be the 5.56 77 gr model, with 7.62 175 gr and 300BLK models to follow. The VCOG retails for $2,800.00.
The Sharps Rifle Company has introduced a 100% drop-in compatible AR-15 bolt for 2014. The S7 steel bolt will withstand over 200,000 PSI, has beveled lugs on the bolt face to assist with any timing issues, has a Nickel Teflon coating, rubber extractor spring donut, and a standard ejector and extractor.
