New for 2014 from Houlding Precision Firearms is the upgraded HPF-15 UBR AR-style rifle chambered in .223/5.56. The receivers are CNC machined from 7075-T6 aluminum billets with tight tolerances. Each rifle has been upgraded with a HPF-Irish Curse Muzzle Brake, the HPF-CMXHandguard, and the BCG is now finished with a self-lubricating HSS (Houlding Super Slick) coating. The UBR is a mid-length gas impingement system with a 16 inch barrel, single stage trigger, and includes Magpul furniture. The UBR’s retail price has yet to be announced.
Advanced Armament Company (AAC) has announced the release of their Ranger 3 suppressor for 2014. This 5.56mm suppressor weighs in at 14.5 oz, is 6.25” long, is 1.5” in diameter, and is finished in Cerakote. The Ranger 3 does not require a flash suppressor like the new Brakeout 2.0, instead this suppressor can be attached by a wrench directly to the barrel with 1/2-28 threads. The Ranger 3 retails for $600.
Lewis Machine and Tool (LMT) has introduced a new AR stock for 2014. The DMR buttstock is adjustable by two positions on the extension tube, fits all Mil-Spec carbine buffer tubes, the cheek-well height is adjustable by 45 positions and the length of pull is also adjustable by 45 positions. The DMR has a concealed rail for attaching a mono-pod, 4 QD swivel sockets, a SOPMOD cheek rest, and a SOPMOD rubber plate. The retail price for the DMR has not yet been set.
Adams Arms has announced their COR (Competition Optic Ready) Rifle for 2014. This AR-style rifle features a 16.5” rifle length ultra-light barrel, a low-mass skeletonized BCG, a Hiperfire 24C competition trigger, and a VooDoo Innovations Jet compensator. As pictured, the COR Rifle can be purchased in a Kryptek camouflage pattern for $140 over MSRP. The COR Rifle retails for $1995.00.
High Speed Gear (HSG) has three new products for 2014 to outfit your tactical kit.
The Extended Pistol TACO Universal Mag Pouch (MSRP $28.00) will fit most high-capacity handgun and sub-gun magazines as well as other equipment such as large flashlights and collapsible batons.
The HSM TACO High Capacity Rifle Mag Pouch (MSRP $35.00) is designed to secure high capacity rifle and Saiga-style shotgun magazines as well as many LE/MIL handheld radios.
In a joint venture with NOLATAC and HSG, the NOLATAC M3T – Multiple-Mission Medical TACO (MSRP $75.00) allows for the customization of your medical kit while using various manufacturers inserts and trays. All three products are available in multiple color patterns.
The color pattern of Kryptek Highlander is not currently available, however all HSG kit will be available in this pattern on a limited run in February 2014.
New for 2014, Kimber has introduced the Model 8400 Advanced Tactical II precision rifle. The Model 8400 is chambered in .308 Win and .300 Win Mag, has an air-gauged steel match grade barrel, a Manners folding stock with a 1” recoil pad, is available in Desert Tan or KimPro II finishes and features reinforced carbon fiber. The folding stock is also adjustable for comb height and length of pull. The Model 8400 will accept 5 and 10 round magazines.
Lancer Systems has released a new .308 AR-style rifle, the LS7, and a new advanced hybrid 7.62x51mm magazine, the L7AWM.
The LS7 incorporates 7075 aluminum receivers, a carbon fiber handguard, ambidextrous bolt releases, barrel lengths available in 16, 18, 20 and 24 inches, and offers three differet mag-well options in standard, open left, and open right. The open mag-well options allow the shooter to conduct a magazine change while in the prone without altering the shooting position. The LS7 is scheduled for release in mid-2014.
The L7AWM magazine combines the strength of steel and the durability of polymer and is designed to work with SR25, SIG716, DPMS .308, and LM308 rifles. The L7AWM magazine is available in capacities of 5, 10, and 20 rounds with more planned for later in 2014. Retail prices for both the LS7 and the L7AWM have yet to be released.
For 2014, Burris introduced the new AR-1X Prism Sight for fast CQB shooting in competition or tactical environments. Featuring a highly visible reticle suitable for CQB operations, it also provides trajectory compensation out to 600 yards. The illuminated reticle is available in red, green, or black. The black reticle is functional with or without battery power. The AR-1X runs on a single AA battery with a 1,000 hour runtime and is night vision compatible. The AR-1X retail price is to be determined.
Crye Precision, known for their camo patterns and tactical kit has entered the firearms market for 2014. Crye has developed the Six12 bull-pup design shotgun. This double-action, striker-fire shotgun holds 6 rounds of 12 gauge ammunition in a removable rotating cartridge. The Six12 will also become available as an add-on option for an AR-style rifle and can be used as a breaching option with the 12.5” shotgun barrel with a 10.5” rifle barrel for clearance. Military and Law Enforcement can expect the Six12 to be available in the winter of 2014 with the civilian market to follow.
New from Danner for 2014 is their Tachyon GTX boot line. The Tachyon GTX features a GORE-TEX lining, a full grain leather polishable toe, pentagon lug pattern sole with a fully rubberized outsole, a fully waterproof synthetic ultralight upper, speed lacing system, and an EVA mid-sole. Each boot weighs in at 17 oz (for a size 10). The Tachyon retails for $150.00.
