Also available are ETS’s 9 and 12 round versions, an industry first! ETS’s GLK-42-9 and GLK-43-9 models are only .75 inches longer than the standard 7-round magazine and allow for a better grip and control of the handgun. The following is a Press Release from Tyrant Designs CNC:
Tyrant Designs CNC, an industry leader in high-end aftermarket AR grips has just announced their release of the new HALO Series MiniVert, a vertical forward grip. With dimensions slightly smaller than the average AR-15 vert grip, the MiniVert sports an aggressive looking knurl and well thought out ergonomics. Coupled with the ability to fit directly to MLOK and Keymod rail systems this little grip packs a big punch. With an overall length just shy of 3 inches, Tyrant instead utilized an elongated lip at the bottom allowing the operator the option of either tucking their pinky behind or resting the finger the traditional way.
“With all of the positive feedback we have received from reviewers, dealers and social media, we are extremely excited to announce the official release of our HALO Series MiniVert! This concept took months of designing and field testing to make it as comfortable as possible while maintaining our well known aggressive styling. It truly is a vertical grip that can be used in all situations on various platforms to heighten the performance of the operator. We are pleased with how it came out and look forward to seeing it on AR’s everywhere. ”

The following is a Press Release from FN:
|(McLean, VA – April 17, 2017) FN America, LLC is excited to announce the launch of the FN 509™, an all-new 9mm striker-fired pistol. The FN 509 was born out of the company’s effort to produce a contender for the U.S. Army’s Modular Handgun System (MHS) competition and has been further enhanced to meet the needs of U.S. law enforcement and commercial customers.|
“When the requirements for MHS were released, our team of engineers immediately went to work, taking the successful elements of the FNS Compact and further developing those to meet the needs of the U.S. Army’s solicitation for a new, full-size pistol,” said Mark Cherpes, President and CEO of FN America, LLC. “Between the submission of MHS and the commercial release of the FN509, we have worked with law enforcement agencies throughout the U.S. and captured on-site feedback that we used to further optimize the pistol to far exceed the expectations of our valued customers.”
Built on the proven architecture of the FNS™ Compact, FN made changes internally and externally to meet the rigorous performance standards of the MHS requirements and further developed the platform into the FN 509™ with help from industry experts. Over the course of development, the platform has been tested extensively for reliability, ammunition compatibility and durability – totaling more than 1 million rounds.
Aesthetic changes to the platform include the aggressive cocking serrations, enhanced grip textures, guarded controls and recessed target crown on the barrel. Critical internal components were completely redesigned to ensure maximum performance to meet FN’s demanding standards. The FN 509 is currently shipping to FN distributors in two commercial SKUs, available at retail in early May, and two law enforcement SKUs, available in early June. Other options like manual safety models will be made available at a future date. For product specifications, please see Figure 1.
To see the new FN 509 in person, visit the FN Booth (#2429) at the 2017 NRA Annual Meetings, held April 28 – 30, 2017, in Atlanta, Georgia. To read more on the design and development of the FN 509 or to find a dealer near you, please visit fnamerica.com.

The following is a Press Release from Tyrant Designs CNC:
Tyrant Designs CNC , an industry leader in high-end aftermarket AR grips is only a few weeks away from releasing their first ever AR vertical grip! So far they are only calling it the Mini Vert Grip. The dimensions are roughly 3” L x .8” W and is directly compatible with M-LOK and KeyMod. The 3” in length is almost an inch shorter than most vertical grips, Tyrant instead utilizing an elongated lip at the bottom, allowing the operator the option of either tucking their pinky behind, or resting the finger on top. It is said to weigh around 2 ounces, but no official number has been recorded. Tyrant Designs also mentioned that this will be their most affordable product to date, and the price point will be very competitive with other vertical grips.
“This is something that we have been slowly working on for some time now. There are some great vertical grips out there, and we did not want to release just a ‘me too’ product. The mini vert is lightweight and shorter than most vert grips. That translates into less hanging mass on the operators rifle while still giving them the added control a vertical grip offers. ”
Tyrant Designs CNC is an AR accessories manufacturer based just outside of Chicago. They have had several successful designs for AR pistol grips and are releasing their line of vertical grips and handstops next month.

SOG Knives and Tools has always continued to strive to innovate year after year. 2017 is no different. Continue to read to see what is new for this year.
SOG has reimagined the multi-tool with their new Baton series. The models are named Q1, Q2, Q3 and Q4. Each in the series is meant to fulfill a different series of tasks, not just add more tools to each. The smallest, the Q1, is just a bit bigger than a permanent marker. In the image below, you can see a variety of what each looks like open, but for a full break down, I recommend clicking on the model name below to check them out on the SOG webpage for full details. Just the opening of these tools are worth checking them out.
As pictured below, there are two new Kiku Models, the Kiku Assisted and Kiku Fixed. All of these knives are designed in collaboration with master blade maker, Kiku Matsuda of Japan. The Kiku Assisted comes with a VG-10 blade in either Black TiNi or Satin Polish and is 3.5″ in length (8.1″ OAL). The handles are made of linen Micarta and have to be held personally to appreciate the texture of these knives. The Kiku Assisted MSRP between $174-$187, depending on blade choice.
The Kiku Fixed is available in a 4″ VG-10 Satin Polish Blade and also comes with a linen Micarta handle. A kydex sheath is also included. The MSRP for the Kiku Fixed is $254.
The below knife, the “Terminus”, is an all-purpouse slipjoint folding knife that is legal in many places. The 3″ CTS BD1 steel blade does not lock, though there is positive pressure to ensure the blade does not inadvertently close. The Terminus is available in Black Oxide ($80) or Satin Polish ($67). This knife features G10 handles and a reversible pocket clip.
If you drop the below Ultra C-Ti knife in your pocket, you may forget it is there. Weighing in at just 1.3oz, the Ultra C-Ti features a VG-10 steel blade and carbon fiber handle with titanium clip, which doubles as a money clip. It is available only with a bead blasted blade and MSRP’s at $134.
